Because of its remarkable development in recent years, Dubai, the rising star of the Middle East, can be taken as the most successful example of globalization process in the region. This study shows the similarities between the motivation of Dubai’s success and Ibn Khaldun’s teory on asabiyya which is a kind of society contract.. Khaldun explained the transformation of the Arabian societies from “badawa” (rural society) to “hadara” (urban society), by extensively analyzing this transition. Haldun’s theories provide us a deeper perspective to understand the dramatic transformation of Dubai.Downloads
