Non-governmental organization is defined as the community of individuals that individuals create and carry out their activities outside the state administration on a voluntary basis. These communities can have effects in many areas such as political, cultural, social, gross national product of countries. It is shown as the fourth most important community in the world after non-governmental organizations, financial institutions, multinational companies and media, especially with the developments in social media tools, audiovisual broadcasts and information communication technologies. In this study, the concept of civil society, its types, historical development, features and importance are discussed. The contributions of non-governmental organizations to individuals and society are emphasized. In addition, evaluations are made on the basis of associations from non-governmental organizations, and ANKOS Association which operates in the field of librarianship is examined in detail within the scope of non-governmental organizations.Downloads
